Bureau of Indian Affairs Bridge Upgrade Projects

Various Locations, Alaska

RPKA was responsible for surveying 6 separate bridges that will be designed by the Federal Highway Administration. Survey work consisted of the following: survey 100 meters up and down stream of the bridge and 25 meters beyond each side of the water body; 50 meters each side of the centerline; cross section of water way on the up stream side of the bridge; high water mark; establish vertical and horizontal control; establish existing deck elevations. The survey basically covered as-built information on the existing structure (i.e., foundation, bridge corners, curbs, guardrails), sidewalks, utilities, drainage patterns, tree line, edge of water and surrounding ground shots, and topographic. Locations of bridges were Tetlin, Hughes, Tyonek, Ruby, Takotna, and Steese Highway 70-miles east of Fairbanks.
