Earthquake Inspection

Tetlin, Alaska

tetlin1.jpg

RPKA provided short-notice emergency inspection services for a bridge in the Village of Tetlin after a magnitude 8.1 earthquake struck Alaska on November 3, 2002. We agreed on an inspection cost and worked out transportation logistics (roads were damaged by the earthquake) the same day inspection services were requested, and were on-site the next day. In addition to assessing the safety and stability of this 150-foot steel truss bridge and providing detailed recommendations to return the bridge to pre-earthquake capacity, we completed a routine bridge inspection and forwarded the completed report to the BIA, Branch of Engineering and Operations office in Albuquerque, New Mexico to update their inspection records. This project demonstrates our ability to respond quickly in unusual circumstances to meet our client’s needs.
