Donlin Creek Road Project

Western Alaska Near Aniak

RPKA was retained by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to perform a feasibility study and hydrology study for a proposed 25 mile road from the Kuskokwim River to the Donlin Mine. The proposed road will be used to support gold mine development in Western Alaska. Services include:

  • Preliminary research
  • Field reconnaissance
  • Environmental clearances and documents
  • Photo log
  • Feasibility study
  • Hydrology study
  • Preliminary construction plans

The feasibility study considers environmental impact considerations, utility and right-of-way impacts, functionality, cost and safety. Alternate routes were evaluated based on significant differences found between the alternate route and primary route. The hydrology study includes the hydrologic criteria necessary for road drainage design including major water structures and special water resource features if applicable. The hydrologic and hydraulic investigation consist of mapping, climate statistics, runoff, typical sections for minor culvert installation, design discharges for minor stream crossings, estimated high water elevations, and other flow characteristics.
