Anchorage Area Water Master Plan Update

Chugiak to Eagle River, Alaska

As a subconsultant to Montgomery Watson, RPKA assisted them in developing the 1992-1993 Anchorage Water Master Plan Update. The work included:

  • Existing planning information review
  • Water system capabilities assessment
  • Water system deficiencies assessment
  • Alternatives assessment

RPKA provided recommendations for water storage, transmission/distribution and supply system improvements to the Chugiak - Eagle River area. Specific services included:

  • Data collection and analysis of existing background information concerning water supply, storage and distribution facilities in the Chugiak - Eagle River area.
  • Inventory and analysis of existing water supply sources and continued use thereof in the study area, and re-evaluation of reservoir needs. This included considerations and recommendations for others not previously identified in other water system studies and re-evaluation of existing system deficiencies.
  • Development and evaluation of alternatives for meeting future demands in the study area. Alternatives were evaluated for technical feasibility, cost, potential conflict and delineated wetlands and flood hazard zones, public acceptance, easement and right of way constraints, long term operations and maintenance costs, consistency with existing and utilidor studies.
