Thunderbird Heights Subdivision Water System Upgrade Phase I and II

RPKA provided system analysis, research, data collection, interpretations, survey, design, permit coordination, record drawings, public participation, and construction administration for this AWWU project. The objective was to bring the water system into AWWU compliance and to complete all necessary upgrades within the subdivision right-of-way before planned street improvements began. Thermal modeling to predict freezing and a value engineering study were critical segments of this project. Work included:

  • Replace multiple with single residential connects
  • Providing freeze protection services
  • Installing thaw wire as needed
  • Existing circulation systems assessment
  • Steel galvanized lines replacement
  • Standardized Record Drawings comparison of the entire system
  • Meetings with community council, homeowners association, and municipal departments

Under Phase II of this project, RPKA provided the following services:

  • Add-heat system
  • Tank sheathing
  • Building permit approval
  • Planning and Zoning Urban Design Commission Coordination
  • Planning and Zoning Urban Design Commission Approval
  • Bidding
  • Construction inspection
